History Research Group

Venue - St Augustine's Church Hall, Burke Street, Victor Harbor

The group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each Month at 10.00am

Commencing .. Thursday, 10th march, 2022.

We are a group of friendly and relaxed history enthusiasts who meet monthly to hear presentations from our members.  Each presentation lasts about 40 mins and is enhanced by a PowerPoint slide show.  We have had, in the past, speakers who may not necessarily live in the area but are happy to give a presentation for us.  All are welcome ...

Commencing .. Wednesday 9th February, 2022

Topics include the Ngarrindjeri, Sturt, the Murray mouth, Currency Creek, European settlement, Adelaide and nearby Southern Fleurieu Peninsula,

the river trade, “Little Scotland”, the railways, WWI and WWII, electoral representation, significant organisations and people, social history and tourism. 

Some readings are provided. Participants can share their knowledge and any research.

Philosophy

Philosophy addresses what are sometimes called the 'big questions' of human existence.  The group explores, as best it can, the possible answers.
